Andy Forsberg Extends Civil War Series Point Lead With 5th Place Finish In Chico, CA

PETERSEN MEDIA- Having a little fun over the last week and running a pair of USAC/CRA non-wing races, Andy Forsberg and his C&M Motorsports team also took part in an important Civil War Series race where a fifth place finish slightly extended their series point lead with just three races left.
“It was an interesting week for the C&M Motorsports team,” Andy Forsberg said. “We ran some non wing stuff, and a Civil War show, and extended our point lead. Monday night the track was a little too aggressive for me, and Thursday night we had some bad luck, but all in all it was a decent weekend.”
During Wednesday night’s Civil War Series event, Forsberg came out strong as he timed the PT Shocks/Autism Awareness/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c machine in third fastest in his time trial group before finishing third in his heat race.
With the split qualifying Forsberg would find himself outside of the dash, but with a car scratching he would end up starting in the eighth spot. With the track having rubber down very early in the race, Forsberg’s start would prove to be important as he was in the fifth spot by the second lap.
Hanging in the fifth spot for the next 28-laps, Forsberg would pick up a couple more points as he seeks out his ninth career series crown.
Monday night saw Andy and company check in at the Petaluma Speedway for some USAC/CRA action. On a track that was heavy and rough, Forsberg was admittedly out of his comfort zone in the feature event.
Timing in 13th quickest, he would finish fifth in his heat race before finishing fifth in the B Main. Lining up 12th in the feature, Forsberg would work his way up to the seventh spot where he would ‘hang on’ to finish.
Thursday night saw Forsberg make his second and final non wing start of the season, and he would time in 14th fastest and finish fourth in his heat race and again find himself in the 12th starting spot.
Working his way forward on the heavy surface, Forsberg would work his way up into the eighth spot before an axle would get go on the 11th lap and end his night.
“I have to thank everyone who helped us out all week,” Forsberg said. “Heavy D an Cody did their best to get me comfortable in the non wing stuff, and luckily we were able to survive Wednesday’s show and still have the point lead.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
