PETERSEN MEDIA- While the start to their 2021 season has not been quite as strong as they have hoped, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing turned in a nice night at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night that was culminated with a fourth-place finish in the feature.
“It has been kind of a sluggish start for our team in 2021,” Forsberg said. “We have been fighting things with our engine and really haven’t gotten it to where we want it to be yet. Saturday night was definitely a better for us night with a decent finish, and these F&F Racing guys are continuing to work hard and get us where we want to be.”
With 33 cars checked in for the 18th Annual Tribute to Al Hinds event, Forsberg would time the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/PitStopUSA backed machine in second fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver would finish in the fourth position putting him directly into the feature event. Based on his qualifying efforts, Forsberg was also eligible for the redraw where the seven would place him in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
On a very slick racing surface that had a curb built up at both ends of the speedway, Forsberg would make a couple of nice moves to get into the Top-5 on the fourth lap, before slipping up into fourth on lap six.
The first 20-laps would go caution free after a red was needed on the initial start. Forsberg would race hard with the Carrick brothers as they all jockeyed for position before the yellow flag was needed on the 20th lap.
Sitting in fourth, action for second through fourth would pick up during the five-lap dash to the finish, and when the checkered flag flew, Forsberg closed the night out with a fourth-place finish.
“It was a good step in the right direction for us, but we still have something going on that is kind of hindering us,” Forsberg said. “Again, these guys have worked hard during this frustrating first month of the season, and I know they will continue to work hard.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank C&H Motor Parts, Bushey Financial Services, PitStopUSA, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, CRV Carbon Solutions, All Pro Heads, and Engler for their support in 2021.
