PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite enduring damage to the right rear corner of his car after contact with a stalled car, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing were able to hang on to a second place finish at Placerville Speedway.
“What a night,” Andy Forsberg said. “Time trials saw me try and qualify using the turn three hill, it didn’t work. Caused some damage that the guys fixed before the heat, and we ended up making the redraw. Then in the feature contact with a spinning car ripped our right rear shock off, and knocked the watts link off, and somehow we still ran second.”
Timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in fifth fastest despite an excursion on his second lap, Forsberg would pick up a second place finish in his heat race.
Having some luck on his side, Forsberg would sneak into the redraw where the four pill put him in the second row of the feature event, where he would look for his fifth win of the year with F&F Racing.
When the green flag flew, Forsberg would put his right rear on the cushion and jump into the second position as he chased after Shane Hopkins.
With the race getting into an early groove, the first 14 laps would rip off caution free. In those first 14 laps, Forsberg would find himself in a tight battle for second as he raced with Tony Gualda and Kalib Henry as they chased after Hopkins.
With a car slowing on the 14th lap, Forsberg would make heavy contact with him as he had nowhere to go, and it would cause suspension damage to his machine.
Despite the issues, Forsberg would do all he could over the final nine laps, and it paid off as he held on to a second place finish.
“Big thanks to the F&F guys,” Forsberg said. “It was just a wild night for us, but pretty cool to get a second place finish with all of the issues. Two big nights for us on tap this weekend.”
