PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending one last weekend at Placerville Speedway in 2019 during the Nor*Cal Posse Shootout, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing would pick up a fifth place finish on Friday night before charging to 4thfrom 13thon Saturday night.
“It was a good weekend for our race team,” Andy Forsberg said. “Friday night was kind of uneventful for us, but we put ourselves in the right spot and ended up fifth. Saturday night I did not do my job in qualifying and really thought our night was finished but we had some luck on our side in the heat, and these guys gave me an awesome car in the feature.”
Friday night’s Nor*Cal Posse Shootout opener came to life with Forsberg timing the Econo Lube-N-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in third fastest in his qualifying group.
Finishing second in his heat race, Forsberg would still make his way into the Dash as he was the fastest qualifier in his heat to transfer. Finishing fifth in the Dash, ‘Mr. Excitement’ would line up in the fifth spot for the 30-lap feature event.
Slipping back to sixth when the race came to life, Forsberg would run in that position for much of the race. With five laps to go in the race, Forsberg would make a move to get into fifth where he would go on to finish and close out the opening night feature event.
Back in business on Saturday night with big money up for grabs, Forsberg would get off to a tough start as he timed in eight quickest in his qualifying group. A multi car pile up on the start of his heat race would give Forsberg a couple of quick positions, taking a little of the pressure off.
Able to finish fourth, Forsberg would punch his ticket into the 40-lap feature event where he would grid the field from the 13thstarting position.
On a very racy Placerville Speedway surface, Forsberg jumped into the Top-10 very quickly and began working his way forward. Hooking up in some entertaining battles in his march to the front, Forsberg would get as high as fourth when the action packed race came to a close.
Charging from 13thto finish fourth, Forsberg would be the event’s Hard Charger, and took home an extra $200 courtesy of Starr Property Management.
“The way the format was, we actually ended up with an okay starting position being in the first heat race,” Forsberg said. “The guys gave me a really good car and we were able to go for it and make up some ground. With how slick it was, it’s really not my forte but these guys gave me a car that made me look good, and I have to thank them for that.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2019.
