Andy Forsberg Pockets Pair of Top 5’s

PETERSEN MEDIA: A scheduled off weekend at Placerville Speedway and a rare Sunday show in California saw Andy Forsberg score a third-place finish at Marysville Raceway on Saturday night before battling to a Top-5 with NARC on Sunday in Stockton, CA.

“With Placerville being dark on Saturday, we ventured up to Marysville Raceway and for the third race in a row, we got off to a good start and qualified second,” Andy Forsberg said. “The track was interesting, it had some character which I thought was fun, but we were so tight in the feature I have no idea how we worked our way to third.”

With 25 cars on hand at Marysville Raceway with a handful of cars on hand to get some laps at the track before this week’s Hall Memorial, Forsberg timed the Meridian Cameras/Pacific Highway Rentals/Oroville Tax backed No. 92 in second quick in time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Forsberg simply needed to transfer into the feature event to earn a spot in the redraw. Finishing third, the Auburn, CA driver did just that before going on to pull the ‘seven’ pill to determine his starting spot in the feature.

When the 25-lap feature event went green, Forsberg battled a very tight racecar that featured him bouncing, and biking, and even pulling a few wheelies in the opening stanzas of the feature event.

Slipping back to 10th at one point, Forsberg admittedly contemplating calling it a night just to ensure he didn’t tear any equipment up. Weathering the storm, as the race clicked off laps, Forsberg’s mount became a little more drivable as he worked his way forward and began picking off cars lap after lap and was soon up to third.

Coming to the white flag, Forsberg made a bid for second, but getting trapped on the bottom in turns one and two on the final lap, Forsberg couldn’t get the drive off the corner he needed and capped the night off with a third-place finish.

Sunday, Forsberg and company made the trip to Stockton, CA to battle with the Northern Auto Racing Club on the revamped Stockton Dirt Track.

With 20 cars on hand for the Sunday matinee, Forsberg timed his entry in 15th fastest in time trials after going out 18th in the order.

Lining up fifth in his heat race on the extremely slick and tricky racing surface, Forsberg was able to pick up a couple of pivotal positions as he finished third which propelled him to a fifth row starting position in the feature event.

Rolling out of the 10th starting spot, the feature proved to be a bit of a survival of the fittest mission on the challenging track conditions.

Able to keep his nose clean and avoid a tangle in front of him, Forsberg also made a couple of swift moves during the race as he forged his way forward and recorder a fifth-place finish.

“When we got to the track Sunday, it passed the eye test,” Forsberg said. “After the show back in March, they definitely heard us and did most of what we asked, and it looked great. The surface was interesting, so hopefully if they can get that figured out it will be a fun place to race. Happy with our weekend, and looking forward to Marysville, and Chico this week.”

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, Western Featherlite, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
