Andy Forsberg Salvages 10th Place Finish at Forni-Humphreys Classic

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night to take part in the 19th Forni-Humphreys Tribute, Andy Forsberg had a tough night that he was able to manage as he picked up a 10th place finish.

“We were just kind of a step off all night, but we put ourselves in a good enough spot to where I could fake it and hang on to a Top-10,” Andy Forsberg said. “We have been running the car that got bent in Oregon, so now we may need to go through and see if something is fatigued or more bent now because we just were not very good.”

35 cars checked into Placerville Speedway with over $8500 up for grabs to the winner. Forsberg got the night kicked off by timing the Meridian Cameras/Pacific Highway Rentals/Oroville Tax backed No. 92 in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Forsberg slipped back a couple of spots as he worked around the slick Placerville Speedway surface and ended up finishing fourth.

With the fast qualifier in his heat race failing to transfer, Forsberg was the fastest to transfer through his eat and earned a spot in the redraw where the seven-pill put him in the fourth row of the 30-lapper.

On the slick surface, Forsberg just simply could not get going as he had the last few weeks on the ¼ mile bullring. Battling between 9th and 12th for the duration of the feature, Forsberg continued to search around the slick surface trying to find grip as laps clicked off quickly.

Keeping right with fellow Championship hopefuls, Tony Gomes and Bubba DeCaires, Forsberg was able to keep his mount in the Top-10 as he finished his night off with a 10th place finish.

“We have a couple of weeks off before we get back to racing when the High Limit Series comes to town,” Andy Forsberg said. “It will give us some time to do some homework and hopefully run well in front of our hometown fans when the National guys come to town.”

Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, Western Featherlite, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-31, Wins-4, Top 5’s-17, Top 10’s-21

ON TAP: Forsberg will be idle this week but returns to action on August 17th at Placerville Speedway.
