PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Forsberg had a memorable 4th of July weekend. Back on Saturday night, Forsberg dominated at Marysville Raceway as he scored his fourth win of the season, before picking up a third-place finish at Silver Dollar Speedway on Tuesday night.
“Saturday night we made the decision to head to Marysville as it was closer to home, we have been trying to work though some issues, so it made sense to us,” Forsberg said. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t the greatest night for the track with car count and fans which was a little disheartening, but it was tough weather. For us, we did what we had to do and came away with a win and things felt pretty good for what we had been dealing with.”
Forsberg kicked his night off by timing the Meridian Cameras/Pacific Highway Rentals/Wilkie Masonry backed No. 92 in fastest in time trials before picking up a third in his heat race.
Lining up on the front row of the 25-lap feature, Forsberg shot out to a very early lead as the first eight laps clicked off without interruption. A lap nine restart again saw ‘Mr. Excitement’ pull away from the field as he extended his lead lap after lap.
Never challenged for the top spot, Forsberg went on to pick up the win in dominating fashion, giving him four triumphs on the season.
Travelling to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Tuesday night for the tracks’ 4th of July celebration, Forsberg continued to showcase speed as he timed in second fastest in his qualifying group.
Finishing second in his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver was locked into the redraw where the two-pill put him on the front row once again as he looked for his first Silver Dollar Speedway win of the season.
Getting the jump, Forsberg was out to the early lead as he once again led the first eight laps of the feature event until a caution flag slowed the action. On the ensuing restart Forsberg slipped back to second as young Landon Brooks was able to get by him.
Running in second, Forsberg worked the bottom of the speedway and reeled the race leader back in, but as he got to him, he didn’t hit his mark as he needed and it allowed Shane Golobic to sneak by and drop him back to third.
Keeping pace with Brooks and Golobic, Forsberg was unable to fight back into the Top-Two as he capped his night off with a third-place finish.
“Chico, CA on Tuesday night was a lot of fun,” Forsberg said. “It was a great crowd and they ate it all up which was good to see. We had a good start to the feature, just a couple little mistakes were the difference between a win and finishing third like we did.”
Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Wilkie Masonry, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, Western Featherlite, GP Development, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
