PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Placerville Speedway over the weekend for the Legends Weekend Nor*Cal Posse Shootout, Andy Forsberg didn’t have the greatest weekend on track as he now turns his attention to Placerville Speedway’s final two points races of the season in what is a very close championship title fight.
“It wasn’t the best weekend for us of the season, but it wasn’t for lack of effort,” Andy Forsberg said. “We worked and tried a lot of different things but the track was pretty slick which isn’t my cup of tea, and we got caught up in a couple messes on Sunday and actually got kicked off the track.”
Timing in fifth fastest in his qualifying flight on Saturday night to open the weekend, a third place finish in his heat race locked Forsberg into the Dash as the fast qualifier in the heat race did not transfer.
Finishing eighth in the Dash, the Auburn, CA driver lined the Meridian Cameras/Pacific Highway Rentals/Oroville Tax backed No. 92 up in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event.
Running into some issues in the early goings of the feature event, Forsberg slipped back to 14th on the 4th lap. Falling back as far as 15th, he was able to climb back to 12th by the halfway point of the race.
Stuck back just outside of the Top-10, Forsberg battled btween 12th and 13th for the final half of the race. When the checkered flag was displayed to the field, Forsberg closed Saturday night out with a 13th place finish.
Making some overnight changes and going to a different car and win on Sunday night, Forsberg to the finale kicked off by timing in 18th fastest in qualifying time trials.
Finishing fourth in his heat race, Forsberg locked into the feature event where he took the green flag from the outside of the eighth row. Able to pick up quite a few spots in the opening stanzas of the feature, Forsberg quickly found himself in the Top 10.
That was all for not just two laps later as a multi car tangle left Forsberg stalled out and facing the wrong direction as the yellow was needed.
Restarting from 19th, Forsberg was able to pick up a couple of spots in the back of the pack as he worked into 15th with just 10-laps left in the race.
Running on the slick surface, another multi car melee broke out, but with Forsberg the only one to come to a stop he was charged with his second stoppage and sent to his trailer.
“It was just a tricky weekend for us as a team, but it was a great weekend for the fan in me,” Andy Forsberg said. “Placerville Rick Hirt does a great job with the Legends Cars and to see them every year and see what this event his turning into is really cool.”
Andy Forsberg and PHR Racing would like to thank Meridian Cameras, Pacific Highway Rentals, Oroville Tax, Wilkie Masonry, Western Traffic Supply, PitStopUSA, Red Line Oil, FK Rod Ends, Autism Awareness, Parking and Transportation Group, Western Featherlite, 1st Vanguard, Highway Specialty Co., and KBJ Catering for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races-37, Wins-4, Top 5’s-18, Top 10’s-24
