Andy Gregg 6th With the King of the West Series

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making a rare start with the King of the West Series on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway, Andy Gregg turned in a strong performance in front of his hometown crowd as he finished in the sixth spot.
“We were all really pleased with how the night went,” Gregg said. “We haven’t really raced with 410ci engine all year and we were pretty competitive all night long.”
With 28 cars jamming into the Placerville Speedway pit area on Saturday night, Gregg got his night off to a great start as he timed the Capitol Ace Hardware/Thompson’s Toyota/New Gen Landscape No. 14R machine in fourth fastest.
Lining up in the second row of the fourth heat, the Diamond Springs, CA driver would finish in the fourth spot, but it was good enough to get the Carroll Russell Bookkeeping/Arnold’s For Awards/Goodwin Trucking backed No. 14r machine into the Dash based on his time trial effort.
Pulling the seven pill during the Dash draw, Gregg would race his way to a fifth place finish and put himself in the third row for the 30-lap feature event. Getting off to a very strong start when the race got underway, Gregg would work up into the third spot as he chased after Kyle Hirst and Shane Golobic.
Continuing to run in the third spot for much of the race, a few late double-file restarts would not go his way and he would find himself battling to remain inside the Top-Five as the race came to a close.
Battling with Bud Kaeding and Tyler Walker in the closing laps of the race, Gregg would take the checkered flag in the sixth spot.
“I really have to thank all of my guys and our partners for all of their support and hard work,” Gregg said. “It is a pleasure to drive for this team, and like I said, we are all pleased that our team was able to run well with the King of the West Series.”
Andy and the Russell Motorsports team would like to thank Capitol Ace Hardware, Thompson’s Toyota, New Gen Landscape Management, Nail It Roofing, Carroll Russell Bookkeeping, Arnold’s For Awards, Goodwin Trucking, Farrell Design-Build Inc., HJS Consulting, Poor’s Equipment Repair, CTL Forrest Management, K&T Fab, K&N Products, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, GUTS, Amsoil, Wilwood, Amerikote, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Factory Kahne Shocks, Hinchman Indy, and Hansen Machine for their support in 2015.
ON TAP: Gregg and the Russell Motorsports No. 14r will return to weekly racing action at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
