PETERSEN MEDIA: After enjoying a couple of off weekends, Andy Gregg and the GUTS Racing team returned to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night where Gregg recorded another Top-10 finish by way of his 10th place effort.
“We timed in good enough to line up on the front row of our heat race, and I knew I had one opportunity to make a move for the win and put us in the redraw,” Gregg said. “It worked out for us and changed the complexion of our night.”
Timing the GUTS/LAL motorsports/Crane Inspection Agency mount in 10th fastest amongst the 29 cars in the pit area, Gregg would find himself on the front row of his heat race.
Slipping back to second when the race went green, Gregg would bide his time before making a big move on the cushion in turns three and four to take over the race’s top spot. With the win, Gregg would move into the nightly redraw where the eight-pill lined him up in the fourth row.
When the race came to life, the Diamond Springs, CA driver would keep his mount well inside the Top-10. Riding in the seventh position, Gregg would move into the sixth spot on lap six before dropping back to seventh on the ninth lap.
At the race’s halfway point, Gregg would avoid a near disaster after contact from another car shoved him off the racing groove in turns three and four and resulted in him falling back to 13th once he was able to get gathered back up.
Moving into 12th following the first restart of the night on lap 19, Gregg would pick up a two more positions in the closing laps as he would get back into 10th and pick up his third Top-10 finish of the year in what was just his fifth start.
“Luckily I was able to get slowed down and not hit anything or anyone there at the halfway point,” Gregg said. “Kind of unfortunate the get raced like that, but we will move on and get ready for Placerville Speedway again on Saturday night.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, LAL Motorsports, Crane Inspection Agency, Meyers and Son Drywall, Nail it Roofing, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Aaron Dosh Attorney at Law, Ice House Resort, Classic Fence Co., Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, Sierra Ice, Ford’s Only, MF Inc., and Gilly’s Radiator for their support.
