Andy Gregg Battles Gremlins During Season Opener

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting his 2018 season underway on Saturday night in Placerville, CA with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Andy Gregg would battle through some gremlins early in the night before finishing 10th in the ‘B’ Main.
“We had some issues that plagued us all night,” Andy Gregg said. “It put us in a big hole and we were just never really to climb out. We will go to work, get things ironed out and be good to go for Stockton next week.”
With 46 cars on hand for a picture perfect night for racing, Gregg opened his 2018 season up by timing the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware backed No. 16 machine in fifth quickest in his time trial group.
Lining up fifth in his heat, Gregg would have his hands full as he fought his car on a surface that proved to be technical on this night. Slipping back to an eighth place finish, Gregg would be forced into the ‘B’ Main where he would take the green flag from the ninth starting position.
Rolling off from the fifth row, Gregg would avoid a near disaster in the opening laps as he went on a wile two-wheel ride in turns three and four that looked as if he would end up getting upside down.
Able to settle his car down, Gregg would live to race on as he fell back to 12th. Getting back up to speed, Gregg would pick up a couple of positions in a tough semi as he brought his night to a close with a 10th place finish.
“It was an interesting night, but it still felt awesome to get back to racing,” Andy Gregg said. “Issues seemed to follow us all night, but I am confident we will be just fine on the 14th.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and MF Inc. for their support in 2018.
ON TAP: Gregg will return to action on April 14th at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, CA.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-1, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-0
