PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to racing action after taking a couple of weeks off, Andy Gregg checked in at Placerville Speedway on the 4th of July and earned quick time honors before finishing ninth in the feature event.

“The 4th of July is a great race to be a part of,” Andy Gregg said. “There is always a huge crowd and it is really a great atmosphere, to run well is also nice.”

Wednesday night the Placerville, CA native would get his night started by timing the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol ACE Hardware No. 16 entry in fastest in time trials as he would earn quick time honors.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Gregg would put his Ice House Resort/CTL Forest Management/Nail-It Roofing entry through its paces as he would finish third and earn a spot in the redraw based on his time trial effort.

As fate would have it, Gregg would not have luck on his side in the draw as the eight pill put him in the fourth row for the 25-lap affair. On the slick racing surface, Gregg would slip to 10th on the second lap but would soon work his way back into ninth where he would spend the majority of the feature event.

Working hard to find a way forward, Gregg would turn his fastest lap of the race just before the halfway point as he put pressure on a gaggle of cars battling in front of him.

Falling back to 10th on the 15th lap as he continued to search around the ¼ mile speedway, Gregg would fall as far back as 11th with just four laps to go. Staying calm, cool, and collected in the seat, Gregg would pick up a couple of positions late as he took the checkered flag in the ninth position.

“Starting that far back in the feature was a little tough, but we continue to have a lot of speed and I keep saying that is a good feeling,” Gregg added. “We will get back up there this weekend for Kid’s Night and try again. Since having kids myself it is a night that is a little more special to me now and I am looking forward to having the family out again. Thanks to all my guys who work so hard on this car nightly.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2018.
