Andy Gregg Looks For Redemption at Stockton Dirt Track This Week

PETERSEN MEDIA: Andy Gregg was pleased to have some on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Stockton, CA but after a 15th place finish the Diamond Springs, CA driver is looking to redeem himself when he returns to the speedway Saturday night for the Asparagus Cup.
“We had really good speed, and that was something we chased last season and struggled with during our first race,” Andy Gregg said. “We went to conservative on our set up in the feature and it bit us. We will learn from it and come back this weekend with a different approach.”
53 cars packed into the Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night for the Jimmy Sills Classic, and it was Gregg earning quick time honors aboard his GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol ACE Hardware No. 16 entry.
Lining up in the fourth starting position for his heat race, Gregg would race to a third place finish and would make himself dash eligible by way of his qualifying efforts on this night.
Finishing 10th in the Dash, Gregg would roll off from the 10th starting position in the 30-lap feature event. On a tricky Stockton surface that was presented to the 24 car field for the ‘A’, Gregg would settle into the Top-10 as he worked around the speedway to find some grip.
Continuing to run solidly in the Top-10, a lap 18 restart would not bode well for the veteran racer as he would slip back to the 13th position in the running order. Looking for a way back up to the Top-10, Gregg would bounce his machine through the infield on the 28th lap and bring out the caution.
Able to restart, Gregg would bring his night to a close with a 15th place finish.
“It had the makings for a good night, we just didn’t go far enough on our adjustments before the feature,” Gregg said. “To go quick time, and get in the Dash is huge with the SCCT, now we just need to work on putting a full night together and we will be just fine. Thanks to all the guys for working hard for me. We are all looking forward to this week.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2018.
