Andy Gregg Rallies To Finish 10th Saturday Night

PETERSEN MEDIA: The season of tough luck continued for Andy Gregg on Saturday night, though the Diamond Springs, CA driver would keep grinding and come away with a 10th place finish during the 11th Annual Mark Forni Classic.
“We just seem to find ourselves in the middle of all the action,” Andy Gregg said. “We got caught up in a heat race wreck and had to come through the B Main. Then running the Top-10, we had to go to the back but managed to fight back to finish in the 10th spot.”
Timing the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP backed No. 16 machine in ninth fastest during qualifying time trials.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, contact once the green flag flew would see Gregg endure front-end damage and take a trip to the work area. With his crew working feverishly, Gregg would restart the race with some bent parts still and would be forced to take a trip to the ‘B’ Main.
In the pit area, several teams and drivers would join Gregg as they lent a hand getting the GUTS Racing entry put back together. Making the call for the “B”, Gregg would finish in the second spot and move into the feature event where he would grid the field from the 11th starting spot.
Getting up into the Top-10 as the race came to life, Gregg would battle with the likes of Steven Tiner and Greg DeCaires as the trio of veterans jockeyed for position on the slick ¼ mile.
On the 13th lap, Gregg would bring out the yellow flag as he came to a stop in turn two. Able to restart with no damage, Gregg would run the second half of the race with a bit of a chip on his shoulder as he worked his way through the field.
Taking advantage of a pair of late restarts with less than 10-laps to go in the race, Gregg would work his way up to finish in the 10th spot when the dust settled on the feature event.
“I really have to extend gratitude to the teams and drivers that helped us get the car back together,” Gregg said. “My guys did a great job, but the extra help helped us out. We were good in the feature, and it was really nice to be able to over come the lap 13 incident and finish in the Top-10.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Angius and Terry LLP, ARP Enterprises, Capitol Ace Hardware, New Gen Landscape, Broadband Agreements, K&N, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, FK Shocks, Wilwood, Arnold’s For Awards, CTL Forest Management, Empire Works, Ice House Resort, Ervin Sales, EMI, Watson Cattle, Wally’s Pizza Bar, Myers and Sons Dry Wall, K&T Custom Fab, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and Nail It Roofing for their support in 2016.
