PETERSEN MEDIA: As the 2015 season comes to a close, and it is known that former car owners, Scott and Kami Russell will be assuming the promoting duties at the Placerville Speedway in 2016, Andy Gregg is seeking an opportunity for the season ahead.

“First and foremost I want to thank Scott and Kami Russell for the opportunity they provided me for 2 and ½ seasons,” Andy Gregg said. “I am really excited to see the taking over the Placerville Speedway, and I wish them nothing but the best.”

For 2 ½ seasons, Gregg and the Russell Motorsports No. 14r team were a tough combination in Northern California. Competing with each other on 62 occasions, the team was able to win on six occasions, pick up 30 Top-Five finishes, and tally 40-Top-10’s.

“I don’t know that the Russell’s will know how much the last 2 ½ years meant to me, but they supported me regardless of the mistakes I made,” Gregg said. “It was such a fun team to be with, and that made it easy to have the success we did.”

Gregg and company were able to win arguably the biggest local race of the season in 2013, as they captured the 8th Annual Mark Forni Classic, a race that pays homage to the late Mark Forni who helped both Gregg and Russell at different times in their careers.

The team was able to also win with the California Sprint Car Civil War Series, and score victories at three different tracks. In 2014 Gregg and Russell Motorsports made the journey to the Knoxville Raceway to compete in the coveted Knoxville Nationals, marking the first time Gregg or the 14r competed in the prestigious event.

“I was given such a tremendous opportunity, and I truly want the Russell’s to know how much that meant to me,” Gregg added. “Though we wont be racing together, I look forward to seeing them on a weekly basis at the Placerville Speedway, and I also, again, want to thank each and every person that was a part of this team.”

With this door closing, Gregg is now seeking an opportunity for the 2016.

“I love to race, and I am hopeful that I can find another team to work with and compete with in 2016,” Gregg added. “I am really open for anything, and I think with my resume, I can help another team find some success.”

Andy and the Russell Motorsports team would like to thank Capitol Ace Hardware, Thompson’s Toyota, New Gen Landscape Management, Nail It Roofing, Carroll Russell Bookkeeping, Arnold’s For Awards, Goodwin Trucking, Farrell Design-Build Inc., HJS Consulting, Poor’s Equipment Repair, CTL Forrest Management, K&T Fab, K&N Products, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, GUTS, Amsoil, Wilwood, Amerikote, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Factory Kahne Shocks, Hinchman Indy, and Hansen Machine for their support in 2015.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-30, Wins-3, Top 5’s-11, Top 10’s-16
