PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to Antioch Speedway on Saturday night, Blake Carrick battled a deflating right-rear in the feature event and still was able to come away with a Top-10 by way of his ninth-place finish.
“It was a draw show, so we were able to get through our heat and transfer directly to the feature,” Blake Carrick said. “We had a right rear go down early, so I did what I could to hang on and finish, and fortunately we were in a good enough position to hang around the Top-10.”
With 25 cars on hand at Antioch Speedway on Saturday night, Carrick would find himself in the second row of his heat race with only the top-three finishers moving directly into the feature event.
Picking up a third-place finish, the Lincoln, CA driver would in fact transfer directly into the feature event where he would take the green flag form the inside of the sixth row.
Getting off to a nice start, Carrick would battle inside the Top-10. On the race’s third lap he would start to feel his car get tight on him. Trying to work through the tight conditions on the fast racetrack, Carrick would soon realize that he had lost air pressure in his right rear making his machine a bit of a handful.
With some long green flag runs, he would able to keep enough pressure in his tire to continue to race on. Doing a good job of maintaining, Carrick would keep his machine inside the Top-10 as he closed his night out with a ninth-place finish.
“We had a pretty good car,” He said. “We had speed, but we had a little bad luck early in the race. Thanks to everyone that helps our team out and makes this all possible.”
