PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his second 410 start over the weekend during the Tarter Memorial in Chico, CA, Lucas Ashe would overcome some early issues and come away with an 11th place finish.

“We were helping Harley Van Dyke shake down his personal car, and we had some early issues that set us back,” Ashe explained. “It was nice to get another night in a 410 under my belt, and I have to thank Harley and his guys for working hard on what was a pretty brutal day heat wise.”

Not getting any hot laps in as engine issues plagued Ashe and company early in the night, the issue would be rectified just before time trials and it would essentially be a chance for Ashe to just make sure the problem was truly solved.

Lining up shotgun on the field in his heat race, the Cottonwood, CA driver would finish in the fifth spot aboard the SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 35.

Lining up in the eighth row for the feature event, Ashe would go to work on a track that saw guys work the cushion at one end and use the bottom at the other. Able to move around a little during the course of the night, Ashe would work his way forward as he picked up a couple of positions.

Chasing after Andy Forsberg in the closing laps hoping to get into the Top-10, Ashe would take the checkered flag in his second 410ci start with an 11th place finish.

“It was a tough night, but I was still able to learn some things and make the best of it,” Ashe added. “We are heading up to Skagit Speedway this weekend for the Dirt Cup, and I couldn’t not be more anxious to take part in such a storied event and race with the ASCS National Tour.”

Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, NAAKE Suspension, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, DMI Components, Shaver Racing Engines, Maxim, Rod End Supply, Lucky Seven Outlaw Wings, Fat Cat Propane, Pickern Allstate Ins., Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 14, Wins-0, Top-5’s-1, Top-10’s-3
