Ashe Has Busy Weekend in Chico and Placerville

PETERSEN MEDIA: With Mother Nature washing out a couple of early races on Lucas Ashe’s 2018 schedule, Ashe and company were back in business over the weekend as he took part in the Silver Dollar Speedway points opener, and the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s opening event at Placerville Speedway.
“Things just didn’t seem to go our way all weekend,” Lucas Ashe said. “Friday night I made a mistake and got over the edge of the track and on Saturday I timed in poorly and had to play catch up all night.”
With 29 cars checked into Chico, CA’s Silver Dollar Speedway, Ashe kicked things off by timing the Jester Auto Museum and Event Center/SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil backed No. 33 machine in 14th in qualifying time trials.
Picking up a fourth place finish during his heat race, the Cottonwood, CA drive would move into the feature event where he would take the green flag from the middle of the pack.
Getting his elbows up, Ashe would slowly work his way forward as he worked his way up to the 11th spot in the opening stages of the race. Getting off the racing surface, Ashe would lose a ton of track position, as he would come back up mired deep in the field and in the 19th position.
Regaining his composure, Ashe would get going again as he began working his way back towards the Top-10. Getting back into 13th on the race’s 10th lap, Ashe would get into a great battle with Cody Hodgson as they battled for position late in the race.
When the checkered flag flew, Ashe would come up with a 15th place finish.
Saturday night the scene shifted to Placerville Speedway as Ashe took part in the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s opening event.
Going out last in his qualifying group, Ashe would end up 11th quickest in his qualifying group, which lined him up 11th in his heat race.
From the back of the pack, Ashe would pick up valuable positions aboard the STL Tile/Crown Motors/Logo USA machine as a seventh place finish was good enough to put him in the 15-lap ‘B’ Main.
Taking the green flag from the fifth starting position, Ashe would run inside the Top-Five early in the race as he chased after one of just four transfer berth’s into the feature.
In a ultra-competitive semi, Ashe would have a little trouble that saw him slip back to 10th. Still working hard on the tricky ¼ mile bullring, Ashe would pick up a couple of positions as his night would end with an eighth place finish in the semi.
“Once we are able to get some race weekends in and get into a rhythm we will be just fine,’ Lucas Ashe said. “There was some good that came from the weekend, we just don’t have the results to show it. Jim Van Lare and everyone do a great job for me, and I appreciate their efforts.”
Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, Triple X Race Co., DMI Components, VSR, Factory QRC, Shaver Racing Engines, Rod End Supply, Fat Cat Propane, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 5, Wins-0, Top-5’s-0, Top-10’s-2
ON TAP: Ashe will be doing a sponsor event this weekend in Redding, CA at the Redding Sportsman’s Expo and will be back racing on April 14th in Stockton, CA.
