Ashe Runs Well at Speedweek Northwest

PETERSEN MEDIA: July has been a busy month out West. Lucas Ashe has been one of the many who has taken advantage of the opportunity to race so much, including a successful stint during Speedweek Northwest.
“It has been really nice to race so much as of late,” Lucas Ashe said. “It is really helping me out to get so much seat time, and I think that is spilling out into our results.”
Following an unofficial Speedweek in California that saw Ashe finish fourth with the Civil War Series, 10th with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour after starting 13th in the B, amongst a couple bad nights, the Cottonwood, CA driver would make the trek up north to take part in Speedweek Northwest.
Kicking off in Yreka, CA on Monday night, Ashe would have a nice run aboard his SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil/NAAKE Suspension entry on a hooked up surface. Timing in ninth quickest, Ashe would make it into the Dash where a sixth place finish lined him up in the third row for the feature event.
On the hooked up surface, Ashe would hold his own as he pocketed a sixth place finish in his first appearance at the facility.
Tuesday night saw the scene shift to Coos Bay Speedway in Coos Bay, OR, and Ashe would again get off to another nice start as he timed in sixth quickest and finished second in his heat race.
Sitting as the night’s high point earner, Ashe would finish third in the Dash and line up in the second row of the 30-lap feature event. Setting a nice pace for much of the race, Ashe would have a good showing as he ran strong in the third spot. Late in the race, Ashe would make contact with an infield tire, and it would result in him finishing in the 11th position as he endured front end damage.
Making the trip to Willamette Speedway on Wednesday night in Lebanon, OR, Ashe would get off to a bit a sluggish start as he ended up 15th quickest in qualifying time trials.
Finishing second in his heat race, Ashe would move into the feature event where he would again run well during his first time at a facility and record a 12th place finish.
Taking Thursday night off, Ashe and company made their way to the final destination of the week, Cottage Grove Speedway for two nights of action to cap the week.
Getting off to a great start on Friday, Ashe would time in third quickest in time trials before finishing fifth during his heat race.
Lining up seventh in the feature event, Ashe would slip back as far as the 14th spot when the race came to life.
From deep in the field, Ashe would have his elbows up as he worked his way forward in a hurry. Able to find himself in the Top-Five late in the race, Ashe would have a part failure on the last lap and he would lose a couple of positions and end up eighth at the stripe.
Lining up 13th in the final feature event of the week, Ashe would run into problems and it would result in a DNF to end a busy 15 day stretch for Ashe and his team.
“I was really happy with how this stretch went,” Ashe noted. “I have thank Harley the guys for working so hard, and my family for all of their continued support.”
Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, NAAKE Suspension, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, DMI Components, Shaver Racing Engines, Maxim, Rod End Supply, Lucky Seven Outlaw Wings, Fat Cat Propane, Pickern Allstate Ins., Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.
