Ashton Torgerson Charges to 9th Place Finish in Super 600 Action at Turkey Bowl



PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of a successful first Trophy Cup, Ashton Torgerson and his Rowdy Energy team were back in action in Micro Sprint action as they invaded Delta Speedway in Stockton, CA for the Turkey Bowl. While Torgerson had an opening night flip in Non-Wing action essentially hinder his weekend in that division, he was masterful in Super 600 Winged action as he picked up a ninth place finish.


Running heats and qualifiers in each division on Friday night, Torgerson’s Non-Winged heat resulted in a wild flip for the Medford, OR driver. Escaping uninjured, the team thrashed to get the Rowdy Energy No. 02 machine put back together for his qualifier.


Making the call for his qualifier, Torgerson would salvage what points he could aboard his battered car as he advanced to a sixth-place finish from his eighth place starting spot and it resulted in a Saturday night ‘B’ Main starting position.


In Super 600 Winged action on Friday night, Torgerson would have a smoother night, however a tough pill draw lined him up in the ninth starting position of his heat race.


Able to gain a valuable position, Torgerson moved into his qualifier where he would go from seventh to sixth which proved good enough to lock him into the Saturday night feature event as he found himself in the 18th starting position.


Kicking his Saturday off in the Non-Winged ‘B’, Torgerson was behind the eight-ball as he took the green flag from the ninth starting position. Doing what he could in the 15-lap shootout, the youngster battled his way to a fifth-place finish and just narrowly missed out on punching his ticket into the feature event, as his Non-Winged efforts came to an end.


Moving into the 40-lap Super 600 Winged feature, Torgerson lined up back in 18th, and was patient in the early goings of the long feature. Running inside the Top-15, Torgerson started to make some noise at the halfway point of the feature.


Working into 13th on lap 22, the Medford, OR driver took over 12th on lap 29 and 11th on the 30th circuit.


Making his way into the Top-10 on lap 35, Torgerson would take over eighth on the 38th lap before settling into 9th with one final lap to go, as he closed his night out with a ninth place finih.


ON TAP: Ashton Torgerson will climb back aboard his winged 360ci sprint car this Saturday night at the Stockton Dirt Track.
