PETERSEN MEDIA- Competing at Delta Speedway one week ago, Ashton Torgerson and his Rowdy Energy team would return to the San Juaquin County Fairgrounds this past Saturday as they took their winged Sprint Car to The Stockton Dirt Track where Ashton Torgerson made his first laps at the Stockton, CA speed plant with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
Taking part in the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s season finale, Torgerson opened the night up by timing the Rowdy Energy Drink backed No. 02 in seventh fastest in his qualifying group as he had to quickly adapt to the large Stockton Dirt Track.
Lining up seventh in his heat race, the Medford, OR driver would get a good start as he continued to acclimate as he worked his way to a sixth-place finish which then placed him in the ninth row for the 30-lap feature event.
A very cold and damp night in Stockton, CA kept the track extremely fast which made passing tough and drivers and cars matched speeds essentially on the narrow and fast racing surface.
Slipping back to 21st when the feature event came to life, Torgerson was able to settle in and pick up a couple of spots as he got back up to 18th. Taking advantage of a couple miscues from drivers running ahead of him, Torgerson continued to turn laps as he raced into 16th on the 11th lap.
With the leaders reaching him and racing their way through traffic, Torgerson opted to bow out once going a lap down to save his equipment for another day and keep himself out of the battle up front.
Pulling off the racing surface on the 12th lap, Torgerson was officially credited with a 17th place finish.
ON TAP: Ashton Torgerson turns his attention back to Micro Sprint action as he will be at Adobe Speedway in Arizona this Friday and Saturday.
