Ashton Torgerson Racks Another Xtreme Outlaw Midget Win



 

PETERSEN MEDIA- Ashton Torgerson continues to come into his own aboard a Keith Kunz Midget as he pocketed another win with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series on Friday night at Coles County Speedway.

 

Earning fast time honors in his qualifying group aboard the Safety-Kleen backed No. 67K, Torgerson took the green flag form the second row in heat race competition.

 

Settling into third when the heat race went green, Torgerson moved into second on the third lap but wasn’t settling for a runner up result. Continuing to battle, Torgerson made his move for the lead on the seventh lap as he grabbed the top spot and went on to pick up the win.

 

A healthy point total put Torgerson in the nightly redraw where the four pill lined him up in the second row for the 30-lap Xtreme Outlaw Series feature event.

 

Jumping into third when the lights flashed green, Torgerson was quickly into second as he took the runner up position on the seventh lap. Not staying in second long, Torgerson powered to the race lead on lap 10 and began to set sail in front of the field.

 

Running a very quick pace around the Coles County Speedway, the Glendale, AZ driver handled business from the driver’s compartment as he led the final 21 laps to secure another win with the series.

 

Torgerson and KKM were also in action on Thursday night as they checked into Doe Run Raceway.

 

Timing in second fastest in his qualifying flight, Torgerson slipped back to a fourth place finish in his heat race after taking the green flag from the third spot.

 

The drop in position proved costly for the feature event and it put the youngster in the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event. Doing what he could to battle for the Top-10 all race long, Torgerson just wasn’t quite able to get mount a charge forward.

 

Falling back in the field at times, the Glendale, AZ driver was able to get back up to 11th when the checkered flag few on the race.

ON TAP: Ashton Torgerson will take this weekend off to prepare for an impending stretch of 410ci winged sprint car races kicking off at Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR next Wednesday night.
