PETERSEN MEDIA: Climbing back aboard the potent Brian Sperry Racing No. 51 on Sunday night in Stockton, CA, Austin Liggett flexed his muscle again at the track as he surged to his second victory of the season at Stockton Dirt Track.
“We had a really good car all night long, and I just had to focus on hitting my marks,” Ligget said.
With 17 cars checked in for the Independence Day celebration with the C&H Veteran Enterprises Hunt Magnetos Wingless Series, Liggett got the night kicked off by timing in fourth fastest in qualifications.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race aboard the C&H Veteran Enterprises/Excel Environmental Services/Benic Enterprises No. 51, Liggett would work his way to a second place finish on the slicked off surface and punch his ticket into the Dash.
Gridding the field from the second row of the six-lap Dash, Liggett put the field on notice as he rocketed to the lead and went on to pick up the win and earn the right to start on the pole for the feature event, as he looked to grab his second win of the season at the speedway.
Taking the green flag, Liggett would jump out to the early lead as he battled hard with rival, Klint Simpson. Able to keep Simpson behind him, Liggett would slowly break away from the field as he negotiated the bottom of the speedway lap after lap.
Setting a nice pace out front, Liggett was able to keep the field behind him as he cruised to his sixth win of the season in the Brian Sperry entry as he extended his C&H Veteran Enterprises Hunt Series point lead.
“Brian Sperry and my Dad did a great job all night long, and I really have to thank them for all of their efforts as I was bouncing back and forth between the wingless and the winged car,” Liggett said.
Brian Sperry Racing would like to thank C&H Veteran Enterprises, Excel Environmental Services, Benic Enterprise, Santomauro Racing Products, Jarrett Soares Racing, and Bailey Bros. Racing Engines for their support in 2017.
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-10, Wins-6, Top 5’s-10, Top 10’s-10
