PETERSEN MEDIA: Austin Liggett and the Brian Sperry Racing team got one step closer to the Joe Hung Magnetos Wingless Tour pres. by C&H Veteran Enterprises season long championship by way of a second place finish on Thursday night in Placerville, CA.

“Thursday night we had a good car, but we just couldn’t get up to Kalib Henry and challenge him,” Austin Liggett said. “We got another podium at Placerville Speedway, and we will look forward to finishing this deal off at Stockton Dirt Track in a few weeks.”

Timing the C&H Veteran Enterprises/Excel Environmental Services/Benic Enterprises No. 51 backed entry in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials, Liggett would flex his muscles in his heat race as he surged to the top spot and made him self eligible for the Dash.

Battling up front with Terry Schank, the two non wing standouts would battle hard for the top spot, as Ligget was able to get by and grab the win. With the win the Tracy, CA wheelman would lead the field to green for the 25-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Henry and Liggett would battle for the top spot, but it would be Henry getting the early lead. As Henry opened up the lead, Liggett did all he could to track him down but needed traffic to do so.

Getting in traffic a couple of times, Liggett would close in on the race lead, but Henry would clean slower cars as well and keep Ligget in the second spot. When the checkered flag waived, Liggett would cross under with a second place finish.

“We would have loved to have been on spot better, but we will take the second place finish and move on,” Liggett added. “Huge thanks to Brian Sperry and his guys for the hard work, and giving me a fast racecar again.”

Brian Sperry Racing would like to thank C&H Veteran Enterprises, Excel Environmental Services, Benic Enterprise, Santomauro Racing Products, Jarrett Soares Racing, and Bailey Bros. Racing Engines for their support in 2017.
