Austin Liggett Second During Non Wing Portion of Nor-Cal Posse Shootout

PETERSEN MEDIA: Austin Liggett made the trip to Placerville Speedway on Thursday night to take part in the non-wing portion of the Nor-Cal Posse Shootout. Giving it everything he had, Liggett would come up just short of the big win as he settled for second at the stripe.

“We just got beat on a late restart,” Austin Liggett said. “I had a good car, and had some fun and had hoped we could have been one spot better.”

Setting a new track record at Placerville Speedway on Thursday night, Liggett would earn quick time honors before advancing from fourth in his heat race to finish second and move into the nightly dash.

Finishing second in the Dash, Liggett would find himself on the front row for the 25-lap feature event. From the outside pole, Liggett would get off to a great start as he jumped out front early and began creating a gap between himself and the rest of the field.

Searching around the speedway as he was out front and approaching traffic, Liggett would continue to open up his lead as the battle for second heated up behind him. The end of the race would see a few caution flags needed creating double-file restart situation.

A lap 19 restart would do the Tracy, CA driver in, and Justyn Cox was able to get around him with time running out in the race. Going back after Cox, Liggett was unable to get the top spot back as he settled for second aboard the Excel Environmental Services/Liggett Trucking/Lucas Oil backed machine.

“I really have to thank my family for all of their help on Thursday night,” Liggett said. “We ran in both classes so there was a lot of me going back and forth so all of their help really made it all possible.”

Austin Liggett Racing would like to thank Excel Environmental Services, Liggett Trucking, Lucas Oil, Tool Technology, Infinity Shocks, Steve Watt Enterprises, Brian Sperry Racing, and Jarrett Soares Racing for their support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-35, Wins-11, Top 5’s-25, Top 10’s-31

ON TAP: Liggett will be back aboard the family car on Saturday October 7th with the USAC West Coast Sprints in Santa Maria, CA.
