PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in the opening night of the Summer Sizzler at Delta Speedway on Friday night, Austin Torgerson picked up a 10th place finish as he now sets his sight on a bear hunt during CA Speedweek which kicks off on Friday night.
Checking in at Delta Speedway on Friday night to open the Summer Sizzler, Torgerson kicked his night off by timing the Safety-Kleen backed No. 88 in eighth fastest amongst the 24 cars that were checked into the pit area.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race based on his time trial efforts, the Glendale, AZ racer got the jump and went on to score the win.
Moving into the feature event, Torgerson found himself on the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event. Falling back to ninth when the race came to life, Torgerson was on the prowl as he searched around Delta Speedway looking for a way to the front.
Jumping into seventh on the eighth lap, Torgerson continued to search meticulously aboard the Torgerson Racing/C&K Towing mount, until trouble ensued on the 21st lap and sent him back to 16th.
Continuing to show speed, Torgerson quickly worked his way back into the Top-10 with time running out as he got back to 10th with four laps left in the race.
In a hotly contested battle for the final spot in the Top-10 over the final three laps, Torgerson won that battle and took the checkered flag in 10th.
Saturday night, Torgerson and team headed to Placerville Speedway for a night of winged 360ci racing. Having mechanical issues in his heat race, Torgerson unfortunately scratched from the rest of the night.
