Austin Torgerson 11th at Thunderbowl Debut

PETERSEN MEDIA- Friday and Saturday night, Austin Torgerson was back in action aboard a winged sprint car as he made his second and third career starts. Turning his first ever feature event laps, Torgerson finished 17th on Friday night in Watsonville, CA before an 11th place effort on Saturday night in Tulare, CA.
With one night at Placerville Speedway under his belt, Torgerson tested the water at two new tracks over the weekend as he checked in at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Friday night.
Timing 18th fastest in qualifying action at Ocean Speedway, the Arizona driver lined up in the third row of his heat race. Continuing to acclimate to a new track, Torgerson settled into sixth when the eight-lap race came to life.
Working around the bullring, Torgerson’s sixth place finish put him eighth row for the 30-lap feature event.
On a slick Ocean Speedway surface, Torgerson began to lay down some very consistent laps as he hit his marks and ran in 18th. Focused on seat time in just his second ever start, Torgerson would work his way into 16th late in the race when mechanical issues forced him to a stop and ended his night nine laps from the finish.
Making repairs, Torgerson’s weekend continued as the Torgerson Racing team travelled south to Tulare, CA to race with the Kings of Thunder series at Thunderbowl Raceway.
Opening the night up by timing in 14th fastest in qualifying time trials, the Glendale, AZ driver lined up in the fourth row of his heat race.
Taking a liking to the high banked 1/3 mile oval, Torgerson finished sixth in his heat race and moved into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 13th starting position.
Jumping into 11th on the race’s third lap, Torgerson held his own as he pressured for a spot inside the Top-10 on a few occasions. Never backing down from the Thunderbowl during his debut, Torgerson hung to finish 11th.
