PETERSEN MEDIA- Back aboard the family winged 360ci over the weekend, Austin Torgerson recorded a 13th place finish on Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA before a tough night on Saturday in Placerville, CA at Placerville Speedway.
Continuing to run a myriad of cars in 2024, this past weekend saw Torgerson put his attention on the winged sprint car. Checking in at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA on Friday night, the Glendale, AZ driver opened his night up by timing in 11th fastest in his qualifying flight with 46 cars checked into the pit area.
Lining up sixth in his heat race, Torgerson was able to take care of business and earn the direct transfer into the feature event as he powered into the fifth and final transfer spot.
Avoiding the semi, Torgerson was locked into 18th when the field made their way to the ¼ mile for the originally scheduled 30-lap feature event.
With the opening five laps being plagued with stoppages and wrecks, the race was ultimately cut to 25 laps. Keeping his nose clean amidst some of early craziness, Torgerson settled in and went to work on the tricky surface that was offered up on this night.
Picking up a few spots over the duration of the main event, Torgerson capped the night off with a 13th place finish as the team was then headed for Placerville Speedway on Saturday.
Checking into Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for another 360ci event, Torgerson timed in 14th amongst his qualifying group and that lined him up in the seventh starting position of his heat race.
Finishing seventh, Torgerson was forced into the ‘B’, and a wild start to the semi saw Torgerson get collected in a wreck which ended his night abruptly.
ON TAP: Austin Torgerson is slated to return to Micro Sprint racing this weekend as he is scheduled to run at Plaza Park on Friday night and the Lemoore Jet Bowl on Saturday.
