Austin Torgerson 15th at US 36 Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to get his feet wet in Midget action with Mounce-Stout Motorsports, Austin Torgerson scored a 15th place finish with the Xtreme Outlaw Midgets on Friday night before an opening lap wreck cut his night short at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex on Saturday.

Opening the double header weekend up on Friday night in Cameron, MO at the US 36 Raceway, Torgerson timed his entry in fifth quickest in his qualifying group.

Lining up fifth in his heat race, Torgerson’s fifth place finish was good enough to vault him into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 13th starting position.

When the race came to life, Torgerson spent much of the night holding his own as he raced in the Top-15. Getting into a few battles over the course of the night, Torgerson slipped back to 17th in the early goings of the race, and worked his way up to the 12th spot near the race’s halfway point.

Continuing close knit action on the bullring, Torgerson ran in 14th, until slipping back to 15th with just 10-laps left in the race. Continuing to gain confidence, Torgerson held the spot for the final laps, and accepted the checkered flag in 15th.

Traveling to Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex on Saturday night, Torgerson’s night was tough essentially from start to finish.

Timing in fifth fastest in his qualifying group, Torgerson lined up fifth in his heat race.

Running in fifth the opening trio of laps, Torgerson endured some contact from another competitors right rear which resulted in him falling back to last, before he rebounded to finish eighth.

Lining up 19th in the feature event, Torgerson’s 30-lapper was cut short in a hurry as he was collected in an opening lap accident that brought his night to a close.
