Austin Torgerson 5th at Delta Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking a couple weeks off from racing following CA Speedweek, Austin Torgerson returned to battle on Saturday night as he picked up a fifth place finish at Delta Speedway in non-winged competition.

Going out early in time trials, Torgerson got off to a quick start as he timed the C&K Towing/Safety-Kleen backed No.88 entry in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Moving into his heat race, the Glendale, AZ racer lined up in the second row of his heat race. Settling into fourth as the 10-lap race went green, Torgerson held the position as he accepted the checkered flag in fourth.

Gridding the field form the second row to start the 30-lap feature event, Torgerson jumped into fourth with the waiving of the green flag but quickly felt pressure from Mattix Salmon who got by him on the fifth lap.

Settling into fifth, Torgerson continue to keep Salmon in striking distance, though passing proved to be tough on this night. Torgerson was able to stay on his rear bumper all race long, but could not quite get a run to get back into fourth.

When the checkered flag flew, Torgerson capped his night off with his 27th Top-Five finish of the 2023 season.
