Austin Torgerson 5th in Winged Portion of Lonnie Kaiser Memorial

PETERSEN MEDIA- Bouncing between his winged 360ci sprint car as well as his micro sprint as the Fall schedule takes over in California, Austin Torgerson was back in action in Dixon, CA over the weekend as the took part in the Lonnie Kasier Memorial where he finished fifth in the Saturday night winged feature event and 8th in non-winged competition.

With the action kicking off on Friday night, Torgerson’s winged showing was ultimately spoiled in the feature event, but he got the weekend off to a great start in non-winged competition.

Timing in fastest in his group in qualifying time trials, Torgerson lined up in the second row of his heat race, and had his elbows up. Making quick work of the field, Torgerson raced his way to the win, and moved into the Dash.

Finishing fourth in the Dash, Torgerson lined up in the second row of the opening night feature event. Slipping back to sixth when the race came to life, the Glendale, AZ driver patiently worked his way back inside the Top-10, as he swapped fifth and sixth for a handful of laps before securing the spot on lap eight.

Continuing to run inside the Top-Five as laps clicked off, Torgerson closed in on fourth on lap 14.

Hooking up in another tough battle for track position, Torgerson was able to get the spot for good on the 19th lap, as he closed Friday night out with a fourth-place finish.

Back in action in both classes on Saturday night, Torgerson timed in eighth fastest in his qualifying flight in winged action, which put him on the front row of his heat race.

Finishing second in his heat, Torgerson was locked into the Dash, where his charge from sixth to fourth lined him up in the second row of the 30-lap winged feature event.

When the winged 30-lapper came to life, Torgerson got a nice start as he settled in fourth during the opening stanzas. Holding down fourth, things got interesting at the halfway point as he was under siege for fourth and hooked up in an entertaining battle for the spot.

Going back and forth for position for four laps, Torgerson settled into fifth on the 14th lap, until he moved into fourth on the 19th circuit.

Running fourth for four laps, Torgerson slipped back to fifth on the 22nd circuit, which is where he went on to finish the race.

In non-winged action, Torgerson got off to a tricky start as he timed in 14th fastest before finishing second in his heat race.

Running seventh in the Dash, Torgerson lined up in the fourth row of the final 30-lap feature event of the weekend.

In non-winged action, Torgerson fell as far back as ninth at the midway point of the race, and was up as high as seventh in the race’s waning laps.

Losing a spot on the final circuit, Torgerson closed the night out with an eighth-place finish in the non-winged feature event.
