PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to action in Dixon, CA over the weekend, Austin Torgerson was in action in both his winged and non-winged car and performed well as he scored third and fourth place finishes.

The Medford, OR driver opened Saturday night up by timing the Safety-Kleen/Torgerson Racing winged car in eighth quickest amongst the 21 cars checked into the pit area.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race based on his qualifying efforts, Torgerson took full advantage of the prime starting position as he powered into the early lead and never looked back. Racing to the win, Torgerson was not only locked into the feature event, but also garnered a position into the Dash.

Lining up fifth in the six-lap Dash, Torgerson’s sixth place finish placed him in the third row of 25-lap non-winged feature event.

As the feature event came to life, Torgerson jumped into the fourth spot as he settled in on a surface that was narrow and really tough to make moves on with rough patches adding an extra element to the race.

Holding down a solid spot in the top-five, Torgerson would keep his position through the first half of the race. Slipping back to fifth on the 14th lap, Torgerson would apply heavy pressure on Izaak Sharp who now ran ahead of him.

On the 22nd marker, Torgerson made his move back by Sharp to overtake fourth, where he went on to finish in the Super 600 winged feature event.

Also, in action in the non-winged division, Torgerson was equally as strong as he timed in 7th fastest of the 38 cars that checked into the Dixon Speedway pit area.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Torgerson worked his way into second during the 10-lap race and transferred into the feature event and was also eligible for the non-winged dash just as he was in Super 600 winged action.

Picking up a fifth-place finish in the Dash, Torgerson then turned his attention to the 25-lap feature event where he took the green flag from the third row.

Running in sixth during the opening laps as he went to work on the same narrow and rough track conditions that he dealt with in winged action, Torgerson moved into fifth on the race’s fifth lap.

By the 10th lap, he had moved into fourth, as he closed in a pack of cars running for position just ahead of him. Just past the halfway point of the feature, Torgerson made his move to overtake the third spot. Once in third, Torgerson then turned his attention on a familiar foe, younger brother Ashton to ran ahead of him in second.

Unable to get around his brother in the race’s closing laps, Torgerson capped his night off with a third-place finish.

ON TAP: Austin Torgerson will now make his debut in a winged Sprint Car this Friday night in Watsonville, CA and then on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-11, Wins-4, Top 5’s-10, Top 10’s-10
