PETERSEN MEDIA- One week after getting collected in an early accident, Austin Torgerson was back in action and had a much better night as he scored a fourth-place finish in the Rowdy Energy No. 02 entry at Central Arizona Raceway.
Continuing to pilot the Rowdy Energy backed entry for the month of February, the 19-year-old Medford, OR native got Saturday night underway by drawing the second row of his heat race.
Officially taking the green flag from the fourth starting position, Austin Torgerson would pick up a very important position as he worked into third by the end of the eight-lap shootout.
By way of this third-place finish, Torgerson was securely in the 20-lap feature event and he ultimately took the green flag from the seventh starting position.
When the race came to life, Torgerson ran in seventh for the first pair of laps before he raced into sixth on the third stanza. Using a lap five restart to his advantage, Torgerson raced into fifth where he settled in for the next five circuits.
Running solidly inside the Top-Five, Torgerson continued to search around the speedway in his Rowdy Energy backed entry as he moved into fourth at the halfway point of the feature event.
Taking over fourth, Torgerson then began to pressure Drake Edwards for the final spot on the podium. Doing all he could to get into third, Torgerson simply was unable to find the opening he needed as he took the checkered flag with his first Top-5 of the young 2023 season by way of his fourth-place finish.
