Austin Torgerson With a Pair of Top-5’s at Grandma Pam Non-Wing Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA- Back in action in the Torgerson Racing Micro Sprint over the weekend in Dixon, CA, Austin Torgerson performed well at the Grandma Pam Non-Winged Nationals as he finished Fifth on Saturday night and backed that up with a fourth place run on Sunday.

Saturday night opened up the two-night event at Dixon Speedway, and Torgerson got his weekend underway by timing in second fastest in his qualifying flight.

Putting the No. 88 entry on the pole of his first heat race of the weekend, Torgerson motored away from the field, picked up the win, and punched his ticket into the Dash for Cash.

Just as he did in his heat race, Torgerson lined up on the front row, and powered away from the field during the six-lap shootout. Racing to the win, the Glendale, AZ driver sat on the pole of the opening night 30-lap feature event.

Slipping back to third when the feature came to life, Torgerson made a slight bobble on lap five and he fell back to fifth. Settling into fifth, Torgerson continued to click off strong laps and powered his way back into fourth on the 25th lap.

The final five laps of the opening night feature saw Torgerson and Brandon Carrey jockey for position, with Torgerson ultimately finishing fifth at the line.

Returning to action on Sunday night for the events finale, Torgerson continued to showcase some serious speed at Dixon Speedway as he timed in third quickest in his qualifying flight on this night.

Just as he did on Saturday, Torgerson left the field in his wake during heat race action as he jumped out to the early lead from his front row starting position.

Racing to the win, Torgerson again moved into the Dash for Cash where he lined up in the seventh starting position on this night. Despite starting in the final row, he made some big moves in the six lapper as he carved his way forward and pocketed a third place finish, and lined up in the second row of the feature event.

As the 30-lap finale came to life, Torgerson quickly powered to the race lead as he took command of the race on lap two.

Out in front, Torgerson was strong until an issue on lap 10 saw him lose a ton of track position as he fell back to seventh.

Once he gathered himself back up, Torgerson was back on the move as he worked back into fifth on the 14th lap.

Clicking off a number of laps in fifth, Torgerson made a late move to take over fourth, where he went on to finish and close out his weekend.

ON TAP: Austin Torgerson returns to sprint car action on Friday night at Placerville Speedway and on Saturday night at Marysville Raceway.
