Bad Luck Bug Bites Netto During Central California Double

PETERSEN MEDIA: Battling the World of Outlaws at the nearby Bakersfield Speedway on Friday night, and making a stop at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA on Saturday night, DJ Netto would unfortunately see bad luck end both nights early.

“It was a tough weekend for our race team,” DJ Netto said. “Friday night with the World of Outlaws we got caught up in a wreck in the feature event, and on Saturday we had a mechanical issue sideline us while running third in the feature.”

Making his first visit to the Bakersfield Speedway on Saturday night, Netto would look to ride some confidence he built up during the Mini Gold Cup and it showed in time trials as he timed his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Kaeding Performance No. 88n machine in seventh fastest.

From the second row in heat race competition, Netto would finish in the fourth spot, which would place him in the fifth row for the 35-lap A Main event.  Settling into a nice rhythm on the Bakersfiled Speedway, Netto was able to make some nice gains on the racy 1/3 mile oval.

On the 18th lap however, contact between himself and Terry McCarl would get his machine upside down and his night would come to an early end.

Regrouping and making the trip to his hometown track, the Keller Auto Speedway, Netto would get his night started off by timing the Shell Rotella T6/Van De Pol Enterprises backed machine in fifth fastest.

Picking up a second place finish during heat race action, the Hanford, CA driver would grid the field from the fourth row in the 30-lap feature event.

On a track that featured a big cushion, Netto showed he was strong in the early goings of the feature event, Working by some stout competition, Netto would work into the third spot just past the race’s halfway point when he felt something go south under the hood of his car.

Forced to slow, Netto would take his machine back to the pit area where his night would again come to an early end.

“It wasn’t what we had hoped, but there was some good that came from both night’s,” Netto added. “We had good speed both nights, and I think we will be pretty tough in the upcoming KWS races we will be at. The swing with the World of Outlaws is tough, but I am pleased with how we ran and excited for the rest of the year.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Kaeding Performance, Shell Rotella T6, and Van De Pol Enterprises for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: DJ and his Netto Racing team are scheduled to be at the Placerville Speedway this Saturday night.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-16, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
