PETERSEN MEDIA- One week after picking up this third win of the 2016 season, Cody Lamar continued to show speed at the Marysville Raceway but a little bit of bad luck on two separate occasions ultimately knocked the Rio Linda, CA driver out of contention on Saturday night.

“We had some really good speed, but unfortunately we didn’t have any luck to go with it,” Lamar said. “We passed a lot of cars, but a late parts failure derailed us.”

Setting the standard in qualifying time trials, Lamar would flex his muscles in heat race action as he picked up the win from his fourth starting position. Earning a spot in the Top – Eight redraw, Lamar would find himself with the eight pill, which meant he would start the feature event from the fourth row.

An extremely racy Marysville Raceway greeted teams on this night, and it allowed Lamar to quickly work his way forward. On lap four Lamar moved into the Top-Five but his first run in with bad luck would occur. Having a torsion stop fail, Lamar would come to a stop and make repairs in the work area.

Restarting form the back of the pack, Lamar showed he had a very strong car as he would pick up positions at will, picking cars off lap after lap. In 16 laps, Lamar would work his way back up into the fifth spot, just after taking over the position his second bout with bad luck would take place, as he would come to a stop with rear end issues.

“Evidently fifth place was not a good spot for us,” Lamar explained light heartedly. “We came through the field pretty good there in what seemed like a few laps, but it is just a shame some bad luck hampered us all night long.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-12, Wins-3, Top 5’s- 5, Top 10’s-6
