PETERSEN MEDIA: With the rust appearing to be gone after just one weekend or racing action, Robert Ballou had a very strong showing with the USAC National Sprint Car Series on Sunday night in Haubstadt, IN as he picked up a second-place finish.
“We weren’t very good at the start of the ‘A’, but I was patient and we got better as the race moved along,” Robert Ballou said. “It is great to be up front and, on the podium, again.”
Ballou’s night got started off quick as the Rocklin, CA native timed the Abreu Vineyards/Deaton’s Waterfront Service/Rossie Feed and Grain backed No. 12 machine in third fastest in his qualifying flight.
Moving into heat race action, Ballou continued to showcase a fast mount as he was able to carve his way forward and record a second-place finish, which would be good enough to transfer him directly into the 30-lap feature event.
Finding himself on the front row, Ballou would get off to a bit of a slow start as he fell back to third initially, before slipping back to the fourth position at one point during the race.
Chasing after Stephen Schnapf, Kyle Cummins, and Donny Brackett, Ballou would come to life late as he got by Cummins for third on the 24th lap.
Hounding Brackett for second, Ballou would take advantage of his bobble on the race’s final lap as he would get by for second and claim his second consecutive podium finish with the United States Auto Club.
“We are getting closer, and I have to thank everyone that supports this race team and makes it possible,” Ballou said. “Now it is time to shift gears, head east and get ready for PA Speedweek.”
Robert Ballou would like to thank Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Berks Western Telecom, Inc., MPHG Promotion, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, Moose Blocks, Inc., JE Pistons, AO Designs, and Arai Helmets for their support.
