PETERSEN MEDIA: A strong weekend for Robert Ballou saw him run a close second to Brady Bacon on Friday night at Terre Haute Action Track before finishing seventh on Saturday night at Tri State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN.

“We tried a new car on Friday night, and it went okay we ran a close second to Brady Bacon, and on Saturday night we went back to our old reliable car and had some good speed but didn’t make the redraw feature and it was pretty narrow and we ended up seventh,” Robert Ballou said.

Friday night at Terre Haute Action Track, Ballou opened the night up by timing the Dickinson Farms/J Dickinson Scrap Metal/Lucas Oil Products entry in fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up sixth in his heat race, Ballou flexed his muscle as he has done so many times at THAT this season and he was able to slice and dice his way to the front to pick up the heat race win.

Lining up sixth in the feature event, Ballou complained about being a little too tight, but he was able to work his way forward and get into second as he battled with Brady Bacon. With the duo seemingly pacing each other, Ballou was unable to get by Bacon and closed the night out with a second place run.

Saturday night the scene shifted to Haubstadt, IN as Ballou took to Tri-State Speedway. Timing in fastest overall, Ballou would line up fourth in his heat race on this night.

Needing to get into the Top-2 to make the redraw, an extremely heavy Tri-State Speedway surface put passing at a premium and Ballou would only be able to get a third place finish.

Lining up ninth in the feature event after failing to qualify for the redraw, the surface stayed extremely narrow and Ballou’s machine was still too tight to really put forth a charge.

Doing all he could, the Rocklin, CA driver closed his weekend out with a seventh place finish.

“We just fought tightness all weekend,” Ballou said. “With Eldora on the horizon this week at least we will have an idea of where to be because that plays always gets really slick.”
