PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to racing after kicking the season off in Florida back in February, Robert Ballou would pocket a Top-10 with the USAC National Sprint Car Series on Friday night, before picking up his first win of the season on Saturday at Lawrenceburg Speedway.

“It feels great to get back racing, and get this car in victory lane,” Robert Ballou said. “Flea helped us out a ton on Friday night, and Saturday we were able to use what he helped us figure out and pick up the win.”

Laying down some good laps in practice on Friday at Bloomington Speedway, Ballou and company would make a change to time trials, but it would not pan out as the Rocklin, CA driver timed in 13th in qualifications.

Able to race his way to a heat race win, ‘The Mad Man’ would line up 13th in the feature event. With the surface on the narrow side in the feature, Ballou would grab what he could as he was able to work his way up into 10th, and pick up a Top-10 finish with the series.

Scheduled to compete at Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night, Mother Nature would intervene and Ballou would end up traveling to Lawrenceburg Speedway to get some more racing in.

Gridding the field from the fourth starting position in his heat race, Ballou would pick up a third place finish, but was confident he knew what his Dickinson Farms/Abreu Vineyards/Deaton’s Water Front Service entry needed prior to the feature event.

Making the adjustments he saw fit, Ballou would grid the field from the seventh starting position in the feature event. Having a very strong car underneath him, Ballou would slice and dice his way through the field and set up a showdown between himself and CJ Leary for the race win.

Able to get the best of Leary, Ballou would cap a solid night by grabbing his first win of the season.

“First and foremost I have to dedicate this win to longtime sponsor, Harry Dickinson of Dickinson Farms, unfortunately we lost him last Friday,” Ballou said. “To beat CJ Leary here is quite a feat. He is the best there is at Lawrenceburg and creates such a fast pace, it makes it difficult to match him. We had a good car, and we kept pace and got the job done. Thanks to everyone who continues to support our race team.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Dickinson Farms, Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Berks Western Telecom, Inc., MPHG Promotion, Unique Breedz, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, and Arai Helmets for their support.

ON TAP: With this weekend’s action rained out, Ballou is unsure where it will be next at the time of press.
