Bayston Gets Elbows Up In Placerville, CA After Early Wreck

PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his long-awaited debut with Tarlton Motorsports on Saturday night in Placerville, CA, Spencer Bayston would overcome a heat race flip, before charging through the “C, into the ‘B’, and just narrowly missing out on a transfer into the feature.

“Our first weekend in the Tarlton No. 21 was a bit of testing for me,” Spencer Bayston said. “Our goal was really to shake everything down and get myself comfortable in the car with me not having ran but a handful of sprint car races in the last 12 months.”

Using the Sprint Car Challenge Tour format on this night, and having drivers time trial amongst the hot lap and heat race groups, Bayston would time the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum backed No. 21 entry in sixth fastest in his group.

Lining up sixth in his heat race, Bayston would endure some contact heading into turn one which led to a wild series of flips into the turn one catch fence.

With Paul Baines and crew able to make repairs, Bayston would make the call for the ‘C’, where he would line up back in the 12th starting position. On the slick quarter mile bullring, Bayston would waste no time acclimating himself to the notorious Placerville Speedway cushion.

Making serious headway, the Lebanon, IN pilot would race to a second-place finish and tag the back of the ‘B’. From the 15th starting position, Bayston would continue to flex his muscle in the Tarlton Motorsports entry.

Again, working his way forward, Bayston would fight into sixth and become a threat for one of the four transfer positions into the feature. Getting into fifth, Bayston’s night would come up just one spot short from a run all the way through the alphabet.

“I was a little rusty early in the night and ended up getting myself into trouble in the heat race,” Bayston added. “That put us behind early in the night, but with a little extra work we were able to have a decent recovery and just came up short of getting into the “A” after starting in the ‘C’. With the laps I was able to run, and the good communication I had with Paul, every lap I ran I got more comfortable. I would have liked to have gotten those extra 30 laps in the feature for the seat time, but I am excited and anxious to get back in the car this weekend and build on our progress.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.
