Becker 4th with Sprint Car Challenge Tour as Trophy Cup Lies Ahead

PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing back aboard the Monhoff Racing No. 35 machine on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA for the 12th round of Sprint Car Challenge Tour action, Sean Becker would put together another strong run at Petaluma Speedway as he netted a fourth-place finish on Saturday night in a near non-stop feature after lining up eighth.

“It ended up being a pretty good night after not qualifying very well,” Sean Becker said. “We were able to pick up a spot in our heat race, and in the qualifier race we finished fourth and that put us eighth in the main, and we were pretty fast and able to move forward.”

Timing the M&M Structures backed No. 35 mount in fifth fastest in his qualifying group, ‘The Shark’ would line up fifth in heat race competition. Finishing fourth in his heat, Becker moved into the qualifier where he would again finish fourth and earn the eighth starting position in the 35-lap feature event.

On a hooked-up Petaluma Speedway, Becker would get off to a nice start as he got up into sixth during the opening two laps before the lone stoppage of the race came. Under red flag conditions, Kaleb Montgomery would need to go to the work area, and it would bump Becker into the Top-5.

When the action resumed, Becker would initially hook up in a battle with Joel Myers Jr for the fourth position, but Myers would fend off the veteran as Becker continued to run fifth as the field slowly approached the rear of the field.

In traffic, Becker was able to pounce as he got by the youngster and took the fourth position. On the fast surface, the leaders were able to pull away and it would prove to be too much for Becker to overcome.

In the closing stages of the race, Becker would close in on third running Andy Forsberg, but on this night, he would pocket a fourth-place finish.

“Once we got into fourth I kind of hung out there since the top three were pretty far out front,” Becker added. “I was able to slowly reel in Forsberg who was in third, but the leaders were pretty far out front.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-52, Wins-1, Top 5’s- 12, Top-10’s- 27
