Becker 8th at David Tarter Memorial

PETERSEN MEDIA- Taking part in the Spring Nationals at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, Sean Becker would run 11th in Friday’s Bill Brownell Memorial, and eighth during Saturday night’s David Tarter Memorial with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour (SCCT).

“Friday night was really a struggle for us early,” Sean Becker said. “The team worked really hard however, and we got a ton better and brought home a pretty respectable finish against a huge field of cars.”

Piloting the Dave Vertullo owned No. 83v during Friday night’s event, Becker would time in sixth fastest in his group, which lined him up sixth in heat race competition.

With only three cars transferring to the feature, the Roseville, CA driver would have some work to do on the slicked off racing surface. Only able to secure a fifth-place finish, ‘The Shark’ moved into the ‘B’ main where his third-place finish would be good enough to transfer him into the 25-lap feature event.

Taking the green flag from the 21st starting position on a very technical track, Becker was able to work his way forward. With stoppages to unfortunate norm on this night, Becker was able to take advantage of various restarts on his charge towards the Top-10.

Just missing out on the 10th spot, Becker capped Friday night’s feature off with an 11th place finish.

Shifting gears on Saturday night for SCCT action, ‘The Shark’ climbed back aboard the Dan Monhoff owned No. 35 machine. With 61 cars again packed into the pit area on this night, Becker would get of a to stronger start as he timed in second fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the pole of his heat race, the Roseville, CA pilot would record a second-place finish which transferred him into the 35-lap feature event, however it would not qualify him for a berth in the Dash and he would line up 13th on the starting grid.

On another tricky racing surface, Becker was able to move forward just as he did on Friday night.

In close quarters racing on the Silver Dollar Speedway bullring, Becker would crack the Top-10 as he got up into the eighth position late in the race. When the checkered flag was displayed to the field, Becker would cap his weekend off with an eighth-place finish.

“We had good speed all of Saturday night to put us in position to contend up front,” Becker said. “But in the feature event, I needed to be more aggressive, and make some better decisions. If I do that, I give this team the finish they deserve. Thank to both teams for all of their hard work and efforts all weekend.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-13, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 2, Top-10’s- 6
