PETERSEN MEDIA- Sean Becker and his Menne Motorsports spent the first of the week participating in the first two rounds of Northwest Speedweek. Competing in Yreka, CA and Medford, OR, Becker and company were able to score two top-five finishes.

“It was a blast getting to those two tracks, as I only get to race on them but once a year,” Sean Becker said. “The racing was great, and we were able to pick up a couple of nice finishes.”

Taking to the Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, CA on Sunday night, Becker would open his night up by timing the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay Inc. No. 75 machine in second quickest on the night.

Lining up sixth in his heat race, ‘The Shark’ would finish in the fifth spot, and move directly into the feature event where he lined up in the seventh position for the feature event.

The slicked off racing surface forced drivers to move around a search for grip on this night, and Becker would get off to a slower than desired start. As the laps clicked off, Becker’s Menne Motorsports machine would slowly come to life, and get stronger.

In the closing laps of the feature event, Becker would make a couple nice moves and get into the fifth spot as he took the checkered flag in the Speedweek opener.

Heading north to the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR on Monday night, Becker would get off to a slow start as he ended up 14th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up third in his heat race, the Oroville, CA native turned Roseville, CA resident would finish in the second spot, and put the Astro Titanium/Ponybracket.com/Hunt’s Race World No. 75 machine in the sixth row for the feature.

Another technical track saw Becker slowly work his way forward as he continued search the track for open real estate. Continuing to race his way forward, Becker would make some big moves during the closing stages of the race as he would grab a fourth place finish when the dust settled on the event.

“The tracks were technical, and we got off to slow starts during each of the two feature events we ran,” Becker said. “By the end of each race, we were really good, and that allowed us to charge forward and finish where we did. I really have to thank the Menne family for giving me the chance to get a couple of races up North.”

Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, and K&N for their support in 2015.
