PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of the Menne Motorsports No. 75 machine after a week off, Sean Becker picked up a pair of ninth place finishes at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
“Friday night we were really good, but with the crazy rain storm and my bad draw for the feature, we couldn’t really go anywhere,” Sean Becker said. “Saturday night was the fastest I have felt all year, but I made some mistakes in traffic and it ended up biting me.”
Kicking his weekend off at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night for Championship Point Racing, Becker would time the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay Inc., No. 75 machine in fourth fastest.
Lining his machine up in the second row for his heat race, Becker would finish in the second spot and solidify his spot in the nights redraw for the feature event.
With a storm rolling into the area prior to the main events, Silver Dollar Speedway track crew went to work to save the speedway and get the show in.
“All the credit has to be given to Lowell Moural, Dennis Gage and the push truck drivers for working their tails off to get the track back into race shape,” Becker noted.
Lining up in the eighth spot on an extremely hooked up racing surface, Becker would do what he could to work his way forward. With passing at a premium, ‘The Shark’ would close Friday night with a ninth place finish.
Returning to the speedway on Saturday night to battle the King of the West Series, Becker would get timed in fourth fastest before finishing third in his heat race.
Finishing in the second spot of the Dash, Becker would share the front row with Tyler Walker for the 35-lap feature event. Though Walker would get the jump and lead the first lap, Becker would be all over him and grab the lead on the second lap just before the caution would fly.
Working into the lead on the restart, Becker would set a torrid pace as he quickly reached lapped traffic. On the 10th lap, Becker would check up while navigating through slower cars resulting in him losing the lead and slipping into the second spot.
Running strong in the second spot, disaster would strike on the 21st lap as a spinning lapped car would get into Becker’s machine and cause right-rear suspension damage forcing him into the work area.
With the crew working diligently to get Becker repaired the best they could, Becker would restart the race and work his way back forward to finish in the ninth spot.
“I am so thankful for everyone in the hot pit area who hustled to fix our car,” Becker said. “I made horrible decisions in traffic all night and we got caught up in a wreck because of it. We finished with a broken Jacobs Ladder, so it really goes to show how strong of a car we had all night long.”
Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, and K&N for their support in 2015.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 19, Wins- 2, Top 5’s- 12, Top 10’s- 15
