Becker Charges Back to Howard Kaeding Classic Top-10

PETERSEN MEDIA- Sean Becker and the Bjork Motorsports team continue to get stronger as the summer heats up. After getting involved in an opening lap accident on Saturday night in Watsonville, CA, Becker charged from the back of the field and still pocked a Top-10 as he scored an eighth-place finish.

“I biked the car up in the first corner of the race and nearly flipped, and as I tried to gather it back up the rest of the field had nowhere to go and I caused a huge pile up,” Sean Becker said. “I hate that I caused other teams so much damage, and I’m disappointed I couldn’t showcase how good of a car the No. 7B team gave me.”

Becker got his Saturday night kicked off by timing the Bjork Construction/Kaeding Performance backed No. 7B in fastest in his qualifying group.

Running fifth in his heat race on a very slick Ocean Speedway bullring, ‘The Shark’ locked himself into the Dash where his sixth place finish put him in the third row of the 30-lap feature event.

Following an extensive track-prep session, the field hit the track for the HK Classic feature event and Becker was set to chase after his second career win at the storied race.

When the race went green, Becker got out of shape as the field raced into turns one and two and with him being in front of the field a multi-car pile up ensued and caused a delay in the action.

Getting to the work area, Becker’s Bjork Motorsports team went to work and got Becker back out onto the racing surface in time for the ensuing restart. Now at the back of the pack, Becker got his elbows up as he worked his way forward.

With passing tough at times on the surface that was narrow from the re work, Becker was able to muscle his way forward.

When the 30-lapper concluded, Becker rebounded well as he took the checkered flag with an eighth place finish.

“I’m grateful for the Bjork Motorsports team’s hard work, as well as the hard work from other teams in the work area as well,” Becker added. “We were able to get back on track, and coming from the back like we did does show how good our car was prepared.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-16, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 3, Top-10’s- 12

ON TAP: Becker will be back in action on July 29th at Placerville Speedway in the Monhoff Racing No. 35.
