Becker Storms To Third During Fast Cars and Freedom

PETERSEN MEDIA- After spending the early part of his week competing during the opening rounds of Northwest Speedweek, Sean Becker and his Menne Motorsports team closed their week out on Saturday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway where ‘The Shark’ charged from 11th to finish in the third spot.
“We had a really fast racecar, but unfortunately we had some issues that kept us from starting our heat race and it forced us to the back of the pack for the feature event,” Sean Becker said.
Getting his Fourth of July off to a fast start, Becker timed the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay Inc. No. 75 in third fastest.
Scheduled to start in the second row of the second heat race of the night, Becker had an issue under the hood of his machine, and would be unable to make the call for the heat.
With his crew feverishly going to work to find the problem, a bad Mag Box was the culprit, and Becker would be able to make the call for feature event, though he would line up in the sixth row.
On a track that stayed fast during much of the night, passing came at a premium for most, but not Becker. Able to seemingly work his way forward at will, Becker would find himself in a dog fight with Carson Macedo and Andy Forsberg in the closing laps as the trio jockeyed for position.
Able to work into the third spot, Becker looked for more as he flanked second running Macedo. Taking a couple shots at Macedo for second, Becker would come up short of finishing in the runner-up position, though he would still end his night with a very strong third place effort.
“Mechanical issues happen all the time without warning, so we were actually fortunate this happened before our heat race, rather than the A Main,” Becker explained. “We turned it into a really great night with a third place finish, but we were all hoping for a late caution. Again, I really have to thank Dan Menne and everyone on this team for their hard work.”
Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, and K&N for their support in 2015.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 25, Wins- 2, Top 5’s- 17, Top 10’s- 20
ON TAP: Becker will return to the seat of the Friends and Family No. x1 machine on Friday night before returning to the seat of his QRC/Grandpa George No. 23 kart on Saturday night at the Cylceland Speedway.
