PETERSEN MEDIA- Putting a tough weekend of racing behind them, Ryan Bernal and his Mike Phulps Motorsports team had a fine showing with the Civil War Series on Saturday night that saw the Hollister, CA pilot work his way from 10th to finish in the third spot.

“We had a really good car on Friday night, and that showed as we fought forward to finish on the podium,” Ryan Bernal said. “I have to thank my guys for putting a car under me that was able to move forward.”

Timing the Keizer Wheels/DMI/S&S Automotive backed No. 56 machine in seventh fastest, Bernal would line up in the second row of his heat race. Running third in his heat, Bernal would safely move into the feature event, but missing out on the Dash would line him up in the fifth row for the feature event.

On a track that stayed fast for much of the night, the feature event would allow guys to move around and jockey for position. Working his way forward as soon as the green flag dropped, Bernal would find himself up in the sixth spot when the caution flew on the seventh lap.

Still hanging around the Top-Five as the race reached the halfway point, Bernal would avoid a flipping car in front of him to take over the fifth spot. Getting by Shane Golobic to take over the fourth spot, Bernal would go to work on Justin Sanders as he looked for the final position on the podium.

Making a move with under 10-laps to go, Bernal would take over the third spot and cap off a very exciting charge to the front.

“The field of cars on Friday was pretty tough, so to come through like we did was pretty good,” Bernal said. “This week we will go to Tulare and shed the wings and hopefully have some more success.”

Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, ButlerBuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2014 season.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-4.
