PETERSEN MEDIA- After dominating the inguaral California Sprint Week last season, Ryan Bernal’s 2015 Sprint Week didn’t go quite as well but the Hollister, CA driver was still able to tally a win and end up third overall in the points.

“Our week started off awesome with a win, but then we had two nights with crashes, and it really set us back,” Bernal said. “The team really worked their tails off the rest of the week and never gave up.”

Opening things up at the Louie Vermeil Classic over the Labor Day Weekend, Bernal made his presence known as he picked up the opening night win in convincing fashion.

Returning to the scenic ½ mile Calistoga Speedway on Sunday night for the Louie Vermeil Classic finale, Bernal would have some bad luck as contact on the front straight would end his night amidst another strong run.

Heading to the Petaluma Speedway on Monday night, Bernal would jump out to an early lead, but a heavy and rough track would bite him on the second lap as he got upside down and over the retaining wall.

Taking the scheduled off days to get things back together, Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would check in to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Thursday night.

Timing in 13th fastest in time trials, Bernal would finish third in his heat race which lined him up in the sixth row of the feature event. On another hooked up and fast surface, Bernal was able to make something happen as he sliced his way through the Top-10 and earned a fourth place finish.

Traveling to the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA on Friday night, Bernal’s eighth quick effort would lead him to a heat race win, before a hard fought feature event saw him pick up his second consecutive fourth place finish.

The final night of Sprint Week would see the team head to the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA. Getting off to a great start, Bernal would time in third quickest and pick up a third place finish in his heat race.

A very wild and tricky Sprint Week finale feature event would see the MPM No. 56 get into the second spot and battle with Richard Vander Weerd and Brady Bacon. Unable to get by Bacon to score his second win of Sprint Week, Bernal would settle for second at the stripe which was good enough to place him third overall in Sprint Week points.

“Those two nights of crashes were frustrating for us all, but I was really proud of my team for continuing to fight,” Bernal added. “It was a fun last couple of nights, and our next race we will see what we can do with the wing.”

Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, ButlerBuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2016 season.
