PETERSEN MEDIA- Ryan Bernal and his Mike Phulps Motorsports team returned to action on Thursday night in Las Vegas, NV for the Sin City Shootout, and the Hollister, CA driver flexed his muscle all night and ultimately ended his night with a second place finish.

“Coming off of a strong Winter Series, I thought we had a great car, and had a shot to win, but luck just did not seem to be on our side,” Bernal said.

Lining up seventh in his heat race, Bernal quickly worked his way forward aboard his Tri-L Mandarin Ranch/Keizer Wheels/A.R.T. No. 56. In the second spot, Bernal made a big-time move on the last lap to storm to the heat win.

With the win and the inversion, Bernal would line up in the third row for the feature event. Just like he did in his heat race, Bernal worked his way forward as he was methodical on the bottom of the speedway.

Getting into the second spot, Bernal set his sights on race leader, Hunter Schuerenberg, and was able to take the top spot way from him on the 14th lap, and as the caution flew, officials deemed a lap had not been completed, and Bernal went back to the second spot.

The restart saw Bernal again look for the top spot, and as he went to make his move, Stevie Sussex was able to get to the top spot, and Bernal would continue to run second, but now he would work on Sussex.

In the race’s closing laps, Bernal would get around Sussex, but the caution would again fly, and Bernal was put back to the second spot, as his pass was negated.

The restart saw Sussex get the room he would need, and Bernal would settle for a second place finish.

“It was a little frustrating with the way the yellows fell, but we had an awesome car, and I can’t thank everyone enough for all of their hard work,” Bernal said.

Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, Butlerbuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2014 season.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-4, Wins-2, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-3.
