PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending a couple weeks in the Midwest competing in a pair of Midget Week’s, Ryan Bernal was finally back in action in California as he picked up two Top-10 finishes while competing with the King of the West Series aboard the Mike Phulps Motorsports No. 56 machine.

“I really feel like I am starting to get comfortable in the winged 410, and that is really a huge testament to how hard my guys have been working,” Ryan Bernal said.

First up on the schedule for the weekend was a trip to the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA for the Pombo/Sargent Classic. With 23 cars in the pit area, the Hollister, CA pilot would get the Keizer Wheels/DMI/S&S Automotive No. 56 machine timed in 15th fastest in time trials.

Getting through his heat race with a third place finish, Bernal would grid the field from the eighth row for the A Main event. The Ocean Speedway was in fine form on Friday night, and Bernal was able to work around the speedway slowly working his way forward.

The longer the run under green, the more comfortable Bernal seemed to get as he closed the night with an eighth place finish.

Heading to the Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night, again with the King of the West Series, Bernal would again get off to a slower than desired start as he timed in 17th fastest during qualifying time trials.

After finishing sixth in his heat race, Bernal would line up in the ninth row for the 25-lap feature event. Just like the night before, Bernal would get stronger and smoother, as the race stayed in green flag conditions. Again moving up through the field, Bernal would pick up his second Top-10 of the weekend as he charged from his 17th starting spot to finish seventh.

“We were pretty good during long runs, and I think that is because I am able to settle down, and get into a rhythm,” Bernal added. “We had really good cars both nights, and I am looking forward to getting back into the winged car, and seeing if we can win a 410 race soon.”

Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, ButlerBuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2014 season.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-23, Wins-7, Top 5’s-11, Top 10’s-15.
